Author Interview – Stefan Johnsson
How long have you been going to CLC?
I started going in February, 2013 thanks to one awesome invitation from my coffee brother, Jason Scherzer.
What do you enjoy the most about writing for CLC Starter?
Just the chance to write about a topic that I enjoy the most! I love writing. To get the chance to use writing for the glory of God on a weekly basis is well worth my time.
If you had to comment on your writing style, how would you describe it?
Writing allows me to gather the thoughts that swirl in my head. I tend to write with several run-on sentences and have to go back and edit anything I do at least two or three times before it becomes something cohesive and intelligible.
Tell everyone your favorite verse and also favorite book of the Bible?
Favorite verse(s) is Psalm 69:5-6: 5 You, God, know my folly; my guilt is not hidden from you. 6 Lord, the Lord Almighty, may those who hope in you not be disgraced because of me; God of Israel, may those who seek you not be put to shame because of me.It is a powerful couple verses and a reminder for me that I am to live my life as an example, not as a stumbling block.Favorite book has to be Hebrews. It just connects the old and new testaments so well.
Favorite Christian book that you would recommend?
Ji Yun took one of my favorite’s already, Thomas Kempis, The Imitation of Christ. C.S. Lewis’ Mere Christianity would be another, but i dont want to copy C.S. Pate with his obvious choice. So i’ll go with, Holy in Christ by Andrew Murray.
Favorite non-Christian book that you would recommend?
I would definitely recommend Dangerous Nation by Robert Kagan.
If someone would want to get started with writing, what would be your one recommendation?
The obvious choice here that everyone else has suggested is to just read. Though, on top of this, just practice writing. There is no such thing as a perfect writer. I expect that I will still find errors in my own writing fifty years from now, though that shouldn’t stop me from writing. Nor should it stop you.
Tell us your favorite hobby (besides writing)?
Running with my wifey. Also reading, especially blogs about Michigan Football. Go Blue!
